The Choice Of
Calphalon Cookware
Enjoyed
as a hobby
or chosen as a profession, cooking boasts enthusiasts worldwide. Those
who cook – as part of their work or just for fun - experience
the
opportunity to turn meal preparation into an art form. And creating art
takes time, patience, dedication, skill, creativity, and persistence -
as well as the right tools. For chefs and hobbyists, one of the most
popular tools in the industry continues to be Calphalon cookware.
The Calphalon cookware company, originating in Perrysburg, Ohio in
1963, was spearheaded by Ronald Kasperzak, whose main goal was to
upgrade commercial aluminum for use in the retail cooking
market.
The company reached its goal in 1975 by introducing their product to
retailers. The response was immediate, as consumers were drawn to
Calphalon cookware for its sturdy construction. The secret of Calphalon
cookware derived from its use of hard anodizing – a process
developed by NASA in 1968 – to treat its aluminum. Hard
anodized
aluminum produced an end product that displayed great durability and
versatility. The treated aluminum allowed for high temperature cooking
on the stove top, as well as within the oven unit. Calphalon cookware
soon became one of the best known brand names within the food service
and cooking industry.
More and more attention surrounded the Calphalon cookware company in
1992 when the company produced its first nonstick line of cooking
products. The cookware was treated with special synthetic polymers,
which generated a nonstick coating on pots and pans.
In 1994, Calphalon extended their cookware family by adding
professional bakeware sets and utensils. Currently, the Calphalon
cookware family includes products such as fry pans, sauce pans, stock
pots, griddles, skillets, Dutch ovens, barware, and enamel cast iron
cutlery. These products are then categorized into sets such as infused
anodized, nonstick, stainless steel, enamel cast iron, copper, and
accessories. To maintain the durability of these sets, proper care
should be maintained.
In order to appropriately care for Calphalon cookware, owners should
clean their products with only warm soapy water. A scouring pad along
with a Calphalon recommended cleanser can assist in removing stubborn
food remnants. Food should never be stored within the cookware because
of its inability to hold an air tight seal.
To keep food from sticking on the Calphalon cookware, always preheat
the pan for one or two minutes. Also, food that is taken from a cold
location should be left to sit for a few minutes before making contact
with the pan. Heat should be kept between medium to medium high and
reduced or increased depending on the item. A very small amount of oil,
butter, or cooking spray may also be utilized in the pan to prevent
sticking. Before beginning to cook, test the pan by adding a small
amount of butter; once it begins to sizzle, the pan is ready.
Choosing the right cookware is a personal choice which largely depends
on an individual’s attraction to design, size of the cookware
set, weight, and feel. Calphalon cookware continues to be a
recognizable name in brand name cookware and the choice of many
professional chefs, everyday cooks, and hobbyists.
